Held Phantom Gloves
What we have here is one of the latest glove offerings from the German company, HELD. The new 'Phantom' gloves come with carbon fibre protection around the cuffs and knuckles as you would normally find from a summer race glove.
The HELD Phantom gloves are also equipped with a highly abrasion resistant stingray skin on the ball of the thumb and the outside two fingers to help the gloves to slide in the event of an accident.
Like the Knox Handroid, the idea of the gloves being able to slide is to help prevent the wrist twisting and grabbing on the road which often leads to the braking or fracturing of the scaphoid bone in the wrist which is all too common in track riding when using leather gloves.
HELD have gone with good old trusty Velcro for the wrist strap and opted out of the new technology found on the handroid. There is a cuff adjuster to help keep the cuffs tight over your leathers and also the gloves come with a rather handy visor wipe for those wetter days. To be honest though this isn't a glove I would imagine too many people would be wearing in the rain.
The cuff has been made that little bit longer to stop any gaps opening up between sleeve and glove.
The HELD Phantom glove is now on sale with a RRP of £150.
